Plateau state Governor, Barr Simon Lalong has received an award as the best state governor for peace and security.
Our correspondent reports that the award was presented to him by Businessday Newspaper.
Speaking with newsmen after receiving the award Gov Lalong said his administration is determined to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
He said “The reward for hard work is more work.”
According to Lalong, the award will spur his administration to strive hard to sustain peace in the state.
The governor dedicated the award to the people of the state whose collective contribution led to the success of the peace process.
“The All progressive Congress led government would continue to sustain the Peace currently being enjoyed in the state.
“This administration is determined to carry along all tribes in governance in order to promote lasting peace in the state.
“We would continue to encourage institutions with ideas that would contribute significantly to the peace building process in the state.”
He appealed to citizens of the state to continue to tolerate each other in order to sustain the peace currently enjoyed in the state.
Other governors present at the award include, Kaduna state governor, Nasiru el-rufai and Kano state governor, Umar Ganduje, while governors of Benue, Osun, Abia, Ogun , Gombe, Borno and Jigawa were all represented.
